Cupros L®

Cupros L® is currently the standard of care for patients with Willson disease. Wilson’s disease is characterized by a deficiency of ceruloplasmin (the enzyme that transports copper in the plasma). Copper accumulation in the body particularly involving the brain, liver and corneas.
Cupros L® is also used in adults to treat conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (including juvenile forms resistant to other treatments), heavy metal intoxication, and cystinuria.
It contains penicillamine, a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) that works by reducing the body’s immune response, helping to relieve pain, swelling, and stiffness in rheumatoid arthritis. In addition, penicillamine acts as a chelating agent, meaning it binds to metals like copper and lead in the body, allowing them to be removed.
